Footscray educational qtr

location: Footscray Market, Footscray

redesigning the Footscray Market for an educational facility and research centre.

The brief involved the redesigning of the current Footscray Market and an addition of a research and education facility that would improve and ply to the educational culture of the developing suburb.

The proposal involved a complete redesigning of the Footscray Market and converting it into an agricultural, research and educational facility that would be utilised by a new and larger demographic such as students, the Footscray community, restaurant owners and researchers.

Using unique narratives in each of the spaces, it allows for unique moments and social opportunities between different community groups to occur.

Whilst still maintaining the amazing market space below, the top 3 levels which are currently inefficiently used car park spaces, have been converted into laboratory facilities, study spaces, a community garden and an auditorium.
