Focusing on the relationship between architecture and engineering, this studio encouraged the exploration of structural materials and their unique properties.

This group task had a big emphasis on structural loads and how our assigned materials of steel and concrete limitations could be pushed.

With the team setting a challenge of designing a cantilevering structure, the team were successful in driving a project that challenged aesthetics and engineering capabilities.

Helix houses 36 pre-fabricated concrete pod apartments, a market place and a roof space supported by bridge-inspired cable engineering.
